When it comes to protecting our environment,
we are all responsible
for doing our part.
So like many companies and individuals,
Stamina is seeking out
more ways
to reduce,
reuse, and recycle every day.
Our Partnerships and Affiliations:
SmartWay Transport Partnership
Stamina uses SmartWay partners to save fuel, money and the environment. Eighty-one percent of our carriers/shippers are Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) SmartWay Transport Partners.
In 2004, EPA launched SmartWaySM -- an innovative brand that represents environmentally cleaner, more fuel efficient transportation options.
In its simplest form, the SmartWay brand identifies products and services that reduce transportation-related emissions. However, the impact of the brand is much greater as the SmartWay brand signifies a partnership among government, business and consumers to protect our environment, reduce fuel consumption, and improve our air quality for future generations.
All of EPA SmartWay transportation programs result in significant, measurable air quality and/or greenhouse gas improvements while maintaining or improving current levels of other emissions and/or pollutants.
EPA believes the quality of the environment is everyone's responsibility; therefore, SmartWay is positioned as a personal choice that can make a difference for the environment.
Ozarks Clean Air Alliance Adopt-A-Bus Project
In partnership with the Ozarks Clean Air Alliance and the Springfield Public Schools, Stamina and others in the community have committed to retrofit Springfield Public School buses with emission reducing equipment.
The Ozarks Clean Air Alliance guides the region's education and outreach efforts to reduce the negative effects of air pollution. We bring together vested individuals and both public and private representatives who are dedicated to raising awareness and understanding of today's Air Quality issues. The many communities that make up the Ozarks enjoy the benefits of our natural resources where we live, work and play. Together we can ensure that our children's children enjoy the same beautiful resources...pure and simple.
Ozarks GreenScore--Bronze Member
Based on results of the Ozarks GreenScore's assessment, Stamina has been recognized with the Bronze Level designation for enviro-conscious procedures.
The mission of Ozarks GreenScore is to educate, motivate and assist area businesses and organizations in adopting environmentally sustainable practices. We do this by using the GreenScore worksheet to quantitatively assess the organizations performance on key criteria such as waste management, energy management, policy management, etc. Organizations are recognized as Bronze, Silver, Gold or Green members based on their performance. Informational resources and technical assistance is available through the program to assist organizations in completing the worksheet, as well as, identifying and implementing additional opportunities to reduce waste and save money. The Ozarks GreenScore program is completely voluntary and non-regulatory.
CMA CGM Shipping Partnership
Stamina's shipping partners share similar environmental goals; therefore, we are proud to have CMA CGM as one of our shipping partners. CMA CGM's environmental protection program is a key element of their corporate strategy with the dual goal of making the group's own operations more eco-friendly, and developing innovative green shipping solutions for its customers. Approximately half of Stamina's products are transported through CMA CGM.
Our Equipment
(Products and Packaging):
From beginning to end, thought is given to resources used to produce, sell, and ship all of our products. Even returned equipment finds new life.
•
Products are precycled while in the design stage to reduce the need for filler and packaging as much as possible.
•
Re-packed products are packed with recycled or reused material--no new bubble wrap or Styrofoam peanuts.
•
Returned equipment finds new life as refurbished items or spare parts. All else (metal, plastic, and cardboard packaging) is recycled.
Stamina's top notch drop ship program ships product directly from the manufacturer to the customer's home, so retailers eliminate shipping and warehouse storage. And, order information is sent electronically to reduce paper waste.
Our Warehouses:
Our warehouses are a hive of activity with loading, unloading, and processing inventory. The management of the inflow and outflow is an opportunity and challenge for reducing waste and reducing energy use.
•
Scrap metal, plastic, packaging bands, and cardboard are collected in bins and picked up for recycling.
•
Everybody wins with efficient, zoned heating and cooling. Workers are more comfortable, costs are lowered, and energy use is reduced.
•
White reflective roofing naturally keeps buildings cooler in the summer.
•
No idling time is our policy. When parked, truck drivers turn their engines off to save fuel and emissions. Plus, workers enjoy the exhaust free, quieter area.
•
Electric pallet jacks conserve energy and are exhaust free.
•
Energy efficient lighting fixtures keep our new warehouse well lit and our energy consumption low. An independent energy audit identified less efficient fixtures in our original warehouse, so plans are underway to replace that lighting with more efficient fixtures.
As an added conservation measure, lights are turned off in areas where no one is working.
Our Office:
As Stamina employees learn more and become more attuned to conserving energy and materials, new ideas have been added to our day-to-day business. An independent energy audit gave our office high scores in all areas.
•
Lighting is the most efficient available--T8 linear fluorescent lamps with electronic ballasts.
•
Recycled paper or pre-used (Good On One Side) paper reduces printing and copying waste.
•
Recycling receptacles for paper, cans, and plastic bottles are available and convenient to everyone. Paper that has just been printed on one side is reused, the rest is recycled.
•
Printing ink and toner use is reduced by composing documents with a font that uses less of each.
•
Reusable dishes replace disposable plates, bowls, cups, and utensils in the break room.
•
Lights are turned off in areas that aren't being used.
•
Motion sensors are used in restrooms, warehouse areas, and storage areas so lights are only on when needed.
•
Labels on light switches serve as reminders to turn off lights when leaving a room.
•
Programmable thermostats adjust to a moderate temperature so space heaters aren't necessary.
•
High efficiency toilets are used to conserve water.
A secure bike rack provides preferential parking for those who cycle to work.
Our Outdoor Area:
We are privileged to be located in the beautiful Ozarks, an area known for its lakes and rivers. So preserving our water and air quality is important to us.
•
All outdoor lighting is on sensors so lights are only on when needed.
•
Lawn mowing has been reduced from eight to three acres and is done less frequently. Watering is done only when necessary, and fertilizer is used very sparingly.
•
Soil and landscaping evaluation is underway to incorporate a more eco-friendly lawn maintenance plan.
•
Trees around buildings and in surrounding natural areas provide a canopy that reduces the volume of storm water runoff.
